Oregon state troopers cleared in officer involved shooting in Grants Pass

Grants Pass, Ore. –Two Oregon State Troopers are cleared of any wrongdoing in a fatal officer-involved shooting in Grants Pass back in May.

The Josephine County District Attorney’s Office says troopers responded to a domestic disturbance call between Robert Box and his adult daughter.

Troopers encountered Box, who was carrying a revolver in his right front pocket.

The D.A.’s office says the troopers told Box not to reach for his gun but when he did they fired 11 rounds, seven of which hit him.

Box was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass and died a short time later.

The D.A.’s office says the troopers fired the fatal shots in self-defense.
