Oregon woman breakup tactic: Fracturing man’s head with bat

Salem, Ore. — (KGW)A 24-year-old Turner woman was arrested for attacking a man with a baseball bat after she decided she wanted to end their relationship, police said.

Haley Fox, 24, began an online relationship in 2013 with a 26-year-old Samuel Campbell of Adger, Alabama, according to a Marion County sheriff’s office press release. Detectives say Campbell agreed to move to Oregon and live with Fox this month.

When the two met in person for the first time on April 8, Fox led Campbell to a table outside her home to sit down and drink some wine, the sheriff’s office said.

“It is when Ms. Fox asked Mr. Campbell to close his eyes that things took what could have been a deadly turn,” the release reads. “Detectives determined that while Mr. Campbell had his eyes closed, Ms. Fox walked behind him and struck him in the head, with a baseball bat.”

Campbell suffered a fractured skull. Fox told investigators she attacked him because she did not want to be his girlfriend.

Fox was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
