Oregonians appear to be leaning towards legalizing recreational marijuana

Portland, Ore. — A new Oregon Public Broadcast poll shows Oregonians appear to be leaning towards legalizing recreational marijuana.

The last time Oregonians voted on legalizing marijuana was in 2012. The measure failed, garnering only 47 percent of the vote. But a new poll by DHM Research finds that 54 percent of voters now support legalization for adults aged 21 and older.

In DHM’s last poll, a year and a half ago, only 43 percent were in favor of legalization. There are a number of different campaigns with different approaches trying to gather signatures for the November ballot. Momentum appears to favor legalization.
