Oregon’s celebrity wolf OR-7 update

Ore. — The Oregon DepartmentFish and Wildlife has designated OR-7, his mate and two pups, “The Rogue Pack”; that’s because they spent most of their time in the Rogue River Basin.

The wolves are being monitored with a GPS collar. Last spring OR-7 found a mate and had pups; according to wildlife officials prior to that, OR-7 even made it into northern California. The first wolf sighting there since the 1920’s, before returning to the Rogue River Basin.

ODFW will release its official wolf count for 2014 when its work is complete.
