White City, Ore.– Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office are being investigated for their use of force in catching an alleged armed suspect.
At noon on Thursday Deputies said they got a tip that 21-year-old Frank Joseph Hernandez Jr was at a White City Chevron gas station. they said he was afelon.
When Hernandez realized deputies were there they said he started running and then pointed a gun at them. They then usedtheir car to try and stop him.
Oregon State Police are investigating the deputies’ use of force.
Lieutenant Gregg Hastings said, “The vehicle did side swiped the man. It didn’t have a full on hit to the person but it did knock him to the ground and then he got up and was able to runaway.”
Hastings said Hernandez ran into a field where a deputy with a k-9 arrested him and took him to jail.
