Phoenix man donates 37th gallon of blood to the American Red Cross

Medford, Ore. — A Phoenix man hit a milestone for giving blood. He got recognized for it on Friday at the Medford location of the American Red Cross.

On Friday Gerald Doran was given two special pins for donating his 37th gallon of blood to the American Red Cross!

He even got this poster signed by the organization’s officials in Medford and Portland.

Doran said he started giving blood in the late-1950s and hasn’t stopped since.

Now he’s encouraging others to do what he’s doing.

“I’d say give. I want them to beat me on my gallons. I know they got started in high schools now so if they can get started, in 50 years they’ll get up to 37-40 gallons of blood,” said Doran.

Doran says he hopes he can help save a few lives.
