SOU’s Mary Cullinan named finalist for presidency at Ohio college

Ashland, Ore. — The president of Southern Oregon University is a finalist for a job in Ohio.

Mary Cullinan sent out a campus wide email Monday to all students and staff.

NBC5 News was able to obtain a copy of the e-mail.

In the e-mail, Cullinan said she was not actively seeking the job and that the opportunity at Youngstown State came up suddenly “I was nominated for the position; the search consultant asked if I would be available to interview via Skype this past Saturday. That afternoon, the consultant invited me to visit the campus next week.”

“I look forward to exploring this professional opportunity and learning more about that university and position. However, please know that I care deeply about SOU and am very proud of all that this university does for our students. I will keep you apprised as I learn more about the YSU position in the next couple of weeks” Cullinan continued.

Cullinan has made the news a lot lately as SOU deals with a multi-million dollar budget deficit.

Also, faculty recently took a vote of no confidence in the president.
