Suspect Arrested For Chiloquin Murder

Police in Klamath County have arrested a suspect in connection with last month’s brutal murder of a Chiloquin man…That suspect was in jail on unrelated charges less than two weeks ago.

36 year old Joshua Gilbert Brown was arraigned this afternoon on murder charges.

He’s accused of shooting and killing 32 year old David Joseph Kelly Costa.

Family members found Costa dead of a gunshot wound at this home in the Agency Lake area near Chiloquin on the evening of June 23rd.

Klamath County Deputy District Attorney Michael Swanson comments on the development of Brown as a suspect…

“During the course of continued police investigation, certain witnesses started to come forward, and the police were able to link Mr. Brown to the murder.”

Swanson adds that Brown was arrested late Thursday night after police pulled over a suspect vehicle near Fort Klamath…

“When the car stopped, he jumped out, ran away through the woods – ultimately, law enforcement did apprehend him.”

Brown was last in jail on June 30th.

Police say Brown ran when they stopped him for driving while suspended near Chiloquin.

Police used a taser on Brown in the course of that arrest.

But, Brown is now facing much more serious charges of murder…charges that carry a minimum of 25 years in prison if he’s convicted.

Brown is being held without bail.

Police reports will be presented to a Klamath County Grand Jury next week.
