Today, the suspect in a neighborhood shooting made his first appearance in court. This, after three shots rang out Wednesday in a Medford neighborhood.
SWAT and police responded in full force Wednesday morning after the shooting occurred. Now, the suspected shooter is behind bars. Causing trouble.
“Your honor, could we take Mr. Poff at the end. He was disruptive and we had to remove him from the court waiting area.”
Today, 21 year old Devon Dean Poff of Medford was arraigned at the Jackson County courthouse.
He is the man police say fired three to four shots Wednesday morning on Tennessee street in North Medford, in a dispute over a vehicle with this man 25 year old William Tye Middlekauff.
We’re told the shots missed their intended target, two bullets blasting through a neighbor’s window.
the third hitting a tree. The 72 year old couple who lives inside were unharmed. They have asked not to be interviewed.
Poff at first declined a lawyer … and admitted guilt.
“How do you wish to proceed at this time” asked Judge Tim Gerking.
“Guilty,” said Poff.
“I can’t take your your plea today,” responded Judge Gerking.
Ultimately, he allowed the judge to appoint a lawyer for him.
Poff already faced outstanding felony warrants. New charges include unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering.
Many of the charges against him are Class C Felony’s with a maximum sentence of 5 years, 125 thousand dollars fine.
Middlekauff was also detained on previous warrants of robbery and hit and run.
Poff is being lodged on $59,000 dollars bail.
