SWAT Team Response

A bizarre weekend for a Klamath Falls neighborhood…

First, a SWAT team is called in to arrest a Klamath Falls man accused of assault, and kidnapping…and then the suspect’s house is later robbed.

48 year old Mark McQueen is charged with assault. But his mother Evelyn McQueen believes the female victim falsely accused her son.

“Do you think she’s done some of those injuries to herself” Asked a reporter. “Oh, yes- she did here a while back – she cut her own self on her arm.”

The alleged assault happened Friday. The victim was taken to a Bend hospital. Detective Sergeant Dennis Davenport of the Klamath Falls Police Department says police couldn’t find suspect Mark McQueen…

“The went over the following night, following up on the same case, and found him inside the residence, along with three juveniles that were in the residence as well.”

Two of the juveniles left the home. McQueen barricaded himself inside – and SWAT teams made their move after a three hour standoff.

“The SWAT team made entry into the residence, and found both Mr. McQueen, and the juvenile hiding in an attic.”

It isn’t McQueen’s first brush with the law. Evelyn McQueen explains that her son suffered brain damage in an motorcycle accident in 1979…

“His reasoning ability, is worse than poor.”

And to make matters worse, Evelyn McQueen says that her son’s home was broken into Sunday night…

“And it just breaks my heart – it’s enough to have my son locked up, and in the position where he is – but have someone steal his dog, too…”

Mark McQueen was arraigned this afternoon on charges of assault and kidnapping. His bail was set at 150 thousand dollars.

McQueen is on probation for a 2010 conviction for attempted sexual abuse… One of his probation requirements is to have no contact with juveniles.
