UPDATE: Semi and school bus crash in Rogue River, one person dead

Rogue River, Ore. — (UPDATE) We have an update in the fatal head-on crash involving a semi-truck and a school bus in Rogue River that left one woman dead.Teralyn Morgan, the school bus driver died on scene, Gary Randolph, the only other person on the school bus is in critical condition, Mark Minegar the driver of the semi-truck, is in serious condition.Both are at Rogue Regional Medical Center. An account for Morgan has been set up at all Umpqua Banks, called, “For the Family of Tera Morgan.”Morgan had two children in the Rogue River School District, one attending the elementary school, the other at the junior/senior high school.The district sent us this statement: “The Rogue River School District mourns the loss of a parent and community member who had daily contact with our students through her job with First Student Inc. our schools work hard to provide for supports needed by students and staff in tragic events such as this.”

Rogue River, Ore. –One person is dead after a fatal accident involving a school bus and a semi truck.

The head-on collision happened just after 9 Tuesday morning on the 5200 block of North River Road just outside of Rogue River.

The road was shut down for several hours but is back open Tuesday evening. The female school bus driver, Teralyn Morgan, was pronounced dead at the scene according to Rogue River Police Department.

As the investigation continues a crash site reconstruction team is working the scene to determine what went wrong.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported to the hospital along with the passenger in the school bus. It was a fatal collision. There were no children on the bus thats the good news. The scene is still under investigation and it will be several weeks till that information is available, said John Foster from Rogue River PD.

The driver of the semi-truck was from Murphys Plywood mill located just a few hundred feet from the accident.

Updated (5/19 2:10 p.m.)The female bus driver who died in a head-on collision this morning in Rogue River has been identified as Teralyn Morgan.

Updated (5/19 11:10 a.m.)Officials have confirmed that the female bus driver died on impact and one male adult passenger was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Rogue River, Ore. — Officials have confirmed that one person has died after a school bus and semi collided head-on early Tuesday morning on the 5200 block of North River Road in Rogue River.

Officials say there were no kids on the bus at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi truck was taken to the hospital, his condition is unknown at this time.

A reporter is on scene and we will update when more details are available.

Full statement from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office:

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, approximately 9:07 a.m., Rogue River Police Department responded to report of a head-on collision between a semi-truck and a school bus. The crash occurred in the 5200 block of North River Road of Gold Hill. There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash. There were three adults in the two vehicles. Two patients were taken to a local hospital and one is confirmed deceased. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of family.

The S.T.A.R., Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction, team has been called in to assist Rogue River Police. The crash is under investigation at this time.
