Klamath Falls, Ore. – A man is dead after police say he was shot and killed by a co-worker at a Klamath Falls rail yard early Thursday morning.
Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge says that shots rang just after 6 A.M. at the Burlington Northern rail yard on Laverne Avenue…
“We had an employee shoot another employee, multiple gunshot wounds.”
The victim has been identified as Emery Connor, a mechanical supervisor who has been with Burlington Northern for the past 8 years.
Patridge adds that a suspect was quickly in police custody…
“We have arrested the shooter at this point in time, and charged him with murder.”
Police identified the shooter as 58 year old James Harold Forshee II.
The D.A. says the motive behind the shooting is unclear…
“I don’t have any information related to the particular dispute – and that would be something we would bring into trial at the court.”
The area was sealed off quickly, Patridge adds that the Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated…
“We’re now continuing to process the scene and continuing to investigate, and talk to witnesses.”
The Oregon State Police mobile crime lab arrived shortly before noon to gather evidence.
“We anticipate the case will be arraigned tomorrow.” Says District Attorney Patridge. “And go before the grand jury next week.”
Burlington Northern workers could not provide any details to the media.
The Klamath County District Attorney intends to present the case to the Klamath County grand jury next Thursday, April 24th.
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe has issued a statement “Extending it’s deepest sympathies to Emery Connor’s family, friends, and co-workers for the tragic loss of his life in a senseless act of violence.”
