Klamath Falls, Ore. — Water is flowing, as of Wednesday, to farmers and ranchers on the Klamath Project.
The Bureau of Reclamation announced Tuesday that the project will get about 239-thousand acre-feet of water.
That’s well below the 400-thousand acre-feet average says Mark Stuntebeck, Klamath Irrigation District Manager, “It’s going to be a water short year and folks are really going to have to conserve their water, use it wisely.”
Several farmers met at the Klamath Irrigation District office Wednesday morning to discuss ways to stretch the water supply.
Some options will include growing crops on only a portion of their land or tapping into limited supplies of well water.
