West Nile virus update

Ore. — A health alert here in Southern Oregon, more West Nile virus cases are popping up and showing up in a dead bird in Jackson County, the first bird to test positive in the state this year.

Official have identified two more West Nile Virus positive mosquito pools. One is West of Eagle Point and the other is South of White City, Oregon.

Jackson County Vector Control says seven mosquito pools tested positive for the West Nile virus in late August and a dead crow was found to have it earlier this month south of Gold Hill. No human cases have been detected in Jackson County since 2005.
