Woman Describes Overnight Assault At Rumors Lounge

A Medford bar owner shares with NBC5 her frightening story after a man breaks into her bar.

A surveillance camera was on and recording video when an irate customer forced his way into the Rumors Lounge in Medford and assaulted the owner. Nancy Lu said “He tried to rob me and kill me on the floor.”

It happened at about 2:30 Wednesday morning after the bar had closed.

That’s when police say 34 year old transient Frankie Parker knocked on the locked door saying he left his wallet inside.

When the owner, Nancy Lu, Looked but couldn’t find a wallet she says Parker forced his way in, grabbed her by the neck, threw her to the ground and began choking her. Lu said “I opened the door, like this. He just starts grabbing my neck and then put me down on the floor and then he didn’t release his hand.”

Lu says when her husband came running with a pool cue Parker ran off “If my husband didn’t come, I would be dead.”

Police say a short time later they found Parker hiding nearby.

He was arrested and jailed on burglary and assault charges.
