Louisiana flood victim aides neighbors

NC_lafloodam0817_1500x845Ascension Parish, La. (WDSU) — Louisiana native Nick Babbin just bought his home in February and now it’s been destroyed by the flooding.

Babbin went home Tuesday for the first time since Saturday, and he says almost everything is a complete loss.

“I try to hold back as many tears as I can,” Babbin said.

Still, Babbin spent the day braving the floodwaters alongside other volunteers to give neighbors food and water.

“Faith and hope, just keep going,” Babbin said. “My family is safe. I’m safe. There are people that may not be safe, so you got to help them if you can.”
