Man arrested for burglarizing Jacksonville homes, vehicles

1024-ryan-lawrence-byrneJacksonville, Ore. – Jacksonville Police said an officer was dispatched to a reported residential burglary in the 600 block of East California Street around 7:00 Saturday morning.

According to police, the homeowner said they had been woken up by some noise and found a man in their house. When the man was challenged, he walked away.

Police said during the search for the suspect they found a work truck that had reportedly been stolen from Medford earlier in the morning. Dispatchers continued to take calls of a suspicious man in the area that was said to be stealing items from homes, cars, and outbuildings.

Jacksonville Police said around 9:45 a.m., an officer found a man in the area who was acting suspiciously on private property. He was detained and confessed he committed the thefts in the neighborhood and stole the work truck. The suspect was found with methamphetamine and marijuana.

Police identified the suspect as Ryan Lawrence Byrne. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and theft.
