Josephine County, Ore. — Oregon State Police said a man was driving under the influence when he crashed his truck into a power pole, causing 4,000 people to lose electricity in Grants Pass.

On Sunday Night, OSP said 75-year-old Donald Stockwell Jr. struck the pole while driving his truck on Williams Highway south of Grants Pass.

Stockwell was trapped in the car with minor injuries, but could not be extricated because of the live electrical wires. The power was turned off, and Stockwell was able to get out of the car after about three hours.

He was taken to the hospital, and cited for DUII.
