Man rescued from Bear Creek

Medford, Ore. — Emergency crews work to rescue a man stranded in Bear Creek.

Firefighters got a call of a man stranded on a rock in Bear Creek at around 6:00 Monday evening.

They say the man may have been intoxicated when he went to retrieve an item from the creek and fell in.
They’re not sure how far the man floated downstream before he was able to climb onto a rock behind Crater Lake Ford.

“This is the first swift water rescue that we’ve done that I am aware of within the creek. It was truly a swift water rescue. Without our help, this could have easily been a fatality,” described Medford Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Ron Nelson

Crews say the man was happy to get out of the water but was very cold. He was taken away by ambulance.
