Weed “tornado” sweeps through S. Oregon pot grow

Williams, Ore. — They’re calling it a weed “tornado”. A video of a weather event at a Southern Oregon pot farm is going viral.

It happened at Siskiyou Sungrown in Williams and caused damage to several plants. The weather service says the twister isn’t actually a tornado — it’s a dust devil.

Brett Lutz with the National Weather Service said, “We have had a number of dust devils reported in the Applegate area over the years that I’ve been here. It seems in that area they’re a little more common than probably they are in the Rogue Valley.” One reason Lutz says it isn’t a tornado — it wasn’t related to a shower or thunderstorm.
