Medford residents continue emergency preparedness training

11.13 CERT TRAININGMedford, Ore. — A class aimed at teaching preparedness measures to Medford residents is continuing today.

The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT is holding their quarterly training this weekend.

The group is taught how to prepare and act in response to natural disasters, learning everything from medical assistance to checking and clearing buildings following an earthquake.

“They’re coming away with not only a set of skills that will help them in an emergency, but they’re also able to help themselves, help their family, their friends, their neighbors in the event of an emergency,” said program specialist Nicolas Peterson.

The three-day training course ends on Sunday.
