Medford teen rescued after falling from trail

0718 Lemolo FallsDouglas County, Ore. – A Medford teen was rescued after falling from a hiking trail in Douglas County.

Police said the 17-year-old was hiking along the North Umpqua Trail when he lost his footing while trying to get a better view of Lemolo Falls. He ended up falling nearly 50 feet down the mountain.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the teen’s mother ran to a location where she was able to dial 911 on her cell phone.

Officers said the teen was eventually located by search and rescue crews and transported by AirLink to Rogue Valley Medical Center. Police did not provide information as to the extent of the his injuries.
