School officials called the evacuation a precautionary measure. Students say they received a campus wide alert telling them to evacuate immediately, and Medford police arrived within minutes.
“Individuals with firearms, possibly a destructive device,” Medford Police Chief Tim George said, “Information on that threat came across and so we ended up down here assisting RCC. They made a decision to evacuate their building. We assisted in the search of that building, there’s been nothing that’s been located.”
The Jackson County Library next door was also evacuated, and searched. The library and the RCC campuses will reopen Tuesday.
