Last Monday, NBC5 News reported that water found in the facility’s electrical room caused the maintenance crew at the YMCA to shut off power to the building.
We’re now told a crucial pumping mechanism failed, and the damage is extensive. New electrical panels, wiring, motors, pumps, and control units will have to be ordered and installed.
The entire YMCA is open and operational except the swimming pool. In the meantime, the YMCAs in Ashland and Grants Pass will try to accommodate members with pool use at no charge based on usage, availability and capacity.
They ask pool users to please call ahead to assure availability.
