OnTrack searching nation-wide for next Executive Director

Dr. Kerri Hecox has stepped down from OnTrack.

It’s a decision she made mutually with OnTrack’s Board as they decided she was best utilized as a health care provider rather than an administrator.

Dr. Hecox took over for former Executive Director Rita Sullivan.

Sullivan was placed on administrative leave last fall amid lawsuits and issues with overseeing agencies.

NBC5 News has learned her employment with OnTrack ended completely last week.

While Dr. Hecox was eager to help OnTrack, she says she thinks it’s best for the community and the patients they serve if she remains in her current role of Site Medical Director at La Clinica.

Now, OnTrack’s Board is looking nation-wide for someone to take her place.

In a statement sent to NBC5, OnTrack Board President Jim Maize said “the board recognizes the important role OnTrack plays in the community and is committed to bringing on the most highly qualified administrator to continue to identify and rectify our current challenges.”

In the meantime, Rick Nagel and Tonia Moro will continue overseeing the program.

Dr. Kerri Hecox thinks OnTrack should look for an executive director that has good administrative experience, is highly collaborative and has a strong work ethic to engage local partners in the future success of OnTrack.

Dr. Hecox says she’s also hoping to partner with OnTrack in the future, specifically working with children and families.
