Opening day on Mount Ashland

12-04-ashlandAshland, Ore., — It was opening day on Mount Ashland today!

People from all over the Rogue Valley came out dressed in their best onsies to score a $25 dollar ticket.

The mountain was set to open on the 10th but got so much snow – it was able to open almost a full week early.

Everything was up and running today, besides the ariel lift.

Workers just didn’t have enough time to get the upper mountain ready.

It was raining and snowing for most of the day, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from getting their gear on and on the mountain!

“What’s your favorite part about skiing – Skiing! What’s your favorite part about the snow? That it’s white and fluffy!” said one 8-year-old, Brian Wiley.

“I’m mostly excited for the snow, I’m glad they got snow this year.” said 10-year-old Jory Terranova.

As of right now there isn’t a set day for the ariel lift to open, but crews say they’ll do their best to get it up and running soon.

The ski hopper bus service is also free this year!
