Heroin arrests are up in Medford… nearly 50 more already this year.
Those who deal with addiction every day say it’s important to get it in the spotlight.
Bob Herried is an outpatient clinical manager at Medford’s Addiction Recovery Center.
He says the epidemic with prescription pain medication and heroin has quadrupled since 1999.
“I don’t think people really realize how much it affects the community–how many people are really involved, how many people are really struggling with it, and how treatment centers like ours work,” Herried said.
Herried said expanding recovery services is key in fighting the heroin epidemic.
