Plane crashes at Willamette Country Music Festival site

BROWNSVILLE, Ore. – A Eugene man was injured after crashing his plane at the site for the Willamette Country Music Festival in the Brownsville area.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said on August 20, deputies responded to the crash site where the music festival was held last weekend.

According to deputies, a 1992 single-passenger experimental plane crashed into temporary fencing near where the VIP beer garden had been.

LCSO said the plane was piloted by 69-year-old John Loomis, who was said to have been taking photos of the area and festival site. He was hospitalized for minor lacerations and a complaint of back pain.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
