Police began investigating Eric Eugene Crowl in April when they first noticed him videotaping police outside their precinct, often showing up during shift changes.
In June, Crowl told an officer that he had negative encuonters with police and said he wanted to “weed out those bad apples” within the police bureau.
Officers found a cache of weapons in Crowl’s car Sunday and an even larger arsenal of guns was found at his home.
“I know what those weapons can do and I was stunned at the potential devastation to my officers and potentially the surrounding public,” said Police Chief Mike Marshman.
Crowl is a self-proclaimed “constitutionalist” and belongs to a group known to oppose the federal government’s authority.
