Jackson County, Ore. — Jackson County voters will have another tax to decide on come November.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will place a proposal on the ballot to help keep the Southern Oregon Historical Society afloat.
The proposal for a Rogue Valley Historic District would provide permanent funding for the society, and other historical societies and museums in the county.
The heritage district would cost five cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, or $10 a year for a $200,000 home. The proposed district would generate about $800,000 annually for the society.
