Proposed marijuana regulations

MARIJUANA TOWN HALL PICGrants Pass, Ore., — Things are getting heated in Josephine County over creating possible marijuana growing regulations.

And it’s creating a lot conversation. in fact, there were about thirty people on the list to speak at the town hall meeting being held Thursday night by Commissioner Cherryl Walker and Keith Heck.

Right now there are no county regulations on growing marijuana, and the commissioners are trying to change that.

Commissioner Cherryl Walker is proposing things like property line set backs, and fencing regulations, among other things that are intended for small commercial grows in the county.

Most of the people at the meeting like Jerry Seibert are for the regulations, because he says growers just aren’t being good neighbors.

“They’re just abusing the natural resources that are there and they’re not taking into consideration their neighbors what so ever… and I think that’s wrong.”

This was the third of four open forums being held by Commissioner Walker and Heck. They say the purpose of the meetings is to get input from the community about the possible regulations.

The next and final meeting will be next Tuesday the 28th at 6:30 pm at the Cave Junction County Building in Cave Junction.
