Veterans housing project gets large financial boost

White City, Ore. — A housing development project that will provide homes for local veterans is getting a big financial boost.

Key Bank is investing $17 million in the Patriot Station development, a project by the Housing Authority of Jackson County. Director of Development, Jason Elzy says the funding will greatly help local veterans who struggle with finding stable housing.

“Veterans that find themselves homeless or in need of housing, although they’re supported by the Veterans Administration, find it tough when there’s not actual units being put on the ground,” Elzy said.

Patriot Station will be made up of 53 units reserved for singles, couples, and families making 50 percent of the area’s median income. It’s being constructed in White City on Division road and Avenue H.

The housing development will be ready to move into by next summer.
