Putin: Kremlin showing restraint in Syria

1028-putinKrasnaya Polyana, Russia (NBC) — Russian President Vladimir Putin says the Kremlin is showing restraint in Syria–but is beginning to lose patience.

Putin made the remarks Thursday to an audience of foreign policy experts gathered in southern Russia.

He said Russia and Syria have not been flying planes in the Aleppo region for the past nine days. But he added, “Everything has its limits,” and if Russia loses patience it may respond.

He did not say what that response might be.

Putin also accused the U.S. led coalition of violating a ceasefire agreement by bombing Syrian government forces in September.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has questioned Russia’s statements about a moratorium on bombing Aleppo.

The monitoring group said the city has been hit by airstrikes since a lull in fighting ended on Saturday.
