Quick response by neighbors, firefighters likely saves Central Point home

0905 Central Point fireCentral Point, Ore. — A neighbor saw smoke coming from a Central Point home and called 911 around 8:00 Monday night. The fire broke out at a home on Manzanita Street

NBC5 spoke to the residents in the home. Both of them were visiting another family member when the fire started, but their dog was inside.

“The neighbors called and fortunately the fire department got here and put it out in time and got the dog out,” said Alexia Brown, a victim of the fire.

Jacob Brown said, “The smoke damage is kind of what — that kind of ruined it.”

Another family member says that thanks to the quick response of firefighters, the main structural loss was limited to sheet rock.

Fire officials are still investigating, but did say the fire appeared to have started in a bathroom.
