Red Cross class teaches kids how to prepare for emergencies

PILLOWCASE PROJECTApplegate, Ore. — A group of young students now know what to do in case of an emergency, thanks to a kids emergency preparedness course on Saturday. The Red Cross held a course at the Applegate Library called the Pillowcase Project.

It’s aimed at teaching young children what to do in the event of an emergency. Organizers say the class helps kids to have an understanding of what to do should an emergency situation arise.

“It’s been really awesome to see them learn what to do, and they’re really excited to share what they’ve learned with their folks,” Jen Esmay said, a Red Cross volunteer.

Disney helps sponsor the red cross program, and provides the pillowcases. There will be more classes held in the coming months. For more information, click here.
