Cattle truck crash shuts down highway

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Icy conditions in Klamath County led to a crash involving a loaded cattle truck over the weekend.

The accident happened just before 3 Sunday afternoon about 25 miles west of Klamath Falls on highway 140.

Oregon State Police say driver Austin McLain lost control at a stop sign on Westside Road and his trailer tipped, blocking both lanes of highway traffic.

8 of the 33 cattle on board died as a result of the crash.

The accident forced the closure of the highway for several hours.
