Klamath Falls, Ore. – The 173rd Fighter Wing welcomed a very special visitor Wednesday at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls.
92 year old Joe Rolison is the brother in law of 2nd Lieutenant David Kingsley.
A World War II Navy veteran, Rolison says he’s honored to visit the base.
“And they still invite me down here.” Notes Rolison. “And all they have to do is say, ‘Do you think you could come down?’ – Bang – I’m down here now. I’d love it.”
David Kingsley died after giving his parachute to a wounded gunner after their B-17 was shot down over Romania, Kingsley died in the crash.
Rolison met with Kingsley staff at a memorial which contains wreckage from the aircraft.
