Rick Perry, Ben Carson confirmed to Cabinet posts

Washington, D.C. – Two more controversial Trump administration cabinet posts were confirmed on Thursday.

Former Texas governor Rick Perry was confirmed as Energy Secretary in a 62-37 vote, according to a report by USA Today.

Perry once promised to eliminate the department, but since he has promised to be an advocate for the agency. He also said he’d rely on government scientists, including those who are studying climate change.

Earlier in the day, famed neurosurgeon and past presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson was confirmed as head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

NBC reports the vote took place mostly along party lines — 58-41.

President Trump’s choice to tap Carson was met with skepticism, as Carson is seen as having little to no experience in issues related to housing. But Carson promised to surround himself with experts in the field and even go on a tour to hear from HUD employees across the nation.
