Rockslide blocks Douglas County highway

Douglas County, Ore. — A rockslide is completely blocking Highway 138E, roughly 10 miles east of Glide.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said the largest boulder is 12 feet tall and weighs about 200 tons. There are several other large rocks in the 50-100 ton range that need to be cleared from the roadway.

Travelers from Interstate 5 to Highway 97 are advised to use alternate routes.

ODOT expects to have at least one lane open Thursday night or early Friday morning.
