Rogue Valley Preparedness and Safety Fair preps families for emergencies

Medford, Ore. — Kids and their families got the chance to learn what it takes to be prepared for emergencies first hand today.
The Rogue Valley Mall teamed up with several local emergency response teams to put on the Rogue Valley Preparedness and Safety Fair.
The fun and educational day included a bicycle rodeo put on by Medford police.
Kids had the chance to tour Jackson County Fire District Three and Medford Fire engines.
And Mercy Flights even flew a helicopter in for the event.
“A lot of this is awareness just seeing what types of services there are available and then just being able to come to one spot and get it all in one package I think is really great,” said Fire District Three Fire and Safety Specialist Ashley Lara.
Smokey the Bear was also there to give tips on preventing forest fires.
Organizers say they hope to offer this event again next year.
