Siskiyou County D.A.: Vote ‘no’ on marijuana legalization

1028-siskiyou-county-daSiskiyou County, Ore. – Siskiyou County District Attorney J. Kirk Andrus has issued a statement urging California voters to vote ‘no’ on Proposition 64.

Proposition 64 would legalize the sale of recreational marijuana for people aged 21 year or older and establish certain sales and cultivation taxes.

In the statement, Andrus wrote, “… there is no unified voice telling the truth about the impact that legal marijuana would have in our state.”

Andrus said he’s concerned about the environmental effects of marijuana cultivation. “Whether legal or not, sucking streams, rivers and wells dry to feed the recreational use of a drug seems ludicrous.”
