Snowfall may expedite opening date for Mount Ashland

Ashland, Ore. — Skiers and snowboarders may be hitting the slopes sooner than expected.

Mount Ashland is hoping to open December 10th, but with all the recent snowfall, the opening date could come even earlier.

Snowboarder Austin Latour is so eager for the season to start, he’s already hiking up the mountain for some pre-season boarding.

He says the runs are looking good.

“Good runs all the way down… solid snow… a little patchy and rocky here and there you just gotta keep your eyes out but all in all good snow and really deep,” Latour said.

Latour says he’s been looking at weather reports anxious about the official opening date.

If the snow continues this week, he will return this weekend.
