Social media post from Idaho concerns southern Oregon residents

Medford, Ore.- A social media post outlining an assault on a hiker at Table Rock had southern Oregon residents concerned Tuesday morning. It turns out, the assault happened at Table Rock in Idaho.

A woman named Lexi Crawford posted pictures on her Instagram showing her swollen, black eye. In the caption, she said, “I went up to table rock alone and on my way back to my car had two guys followed [sic] me and when I opened my car door they attacked me.”

The picture was shared hundreds of times among southern Oregon social media users.

While social media comments and Boise, Idaho television stations confirm the case is not local to southern Oregon, local police say it’s a good reminder to be prepared when you’re enjoying the outdoors. Medford Police Department suggests letting someone know where you’re going, keeping a cell phone available at all times, carrying pepper spray and, if possible, hiking with a friend or group.
