Standoff in Medford

0720 Medford StandoffMedford, Ore. — A standoff in Medford ends with police using a battering ram to enter a home and making multiple arrests.

Police say a Medford officer attempted to stop a Mercedes with no plates late Tuesday night. The vehicle didn’t stop and police were led to a residence on Columbus and Prune, where six cars responded.

Medford Police Sergeant Steve Furst said, “Witnesses told us that the suspect ran from the vehicle into one of the duplexes over here on the 1400 block of Prune Street. At that time officers set up a perimeter, and with the information we had we applied for a telephonic search permit, served the search permit.”

Neighbors were told to stay back and the street was blocked off.

Police ultimately used a battering ram to enter a home. Four people were taken into custody on charges ranging from eluding to drug possession and interfering with police.
