Transients blamed for theft at Rogue Valley Square Dance Center

Central Point, Ore. — A local non-profit in Central Point is facing more problems with transients.

The Rogue Valley Square Dance Center hall on Table Rock Road backs up to Jackson County property.

In the past, transients have broken the building’s air conditioning unit, stolen items from the garage, and used the building’s water.

This past Saturday assistant treasurer John Olson found the lock to the group’s cargo trailer pried open and on the ground.

“It doesn’t seem like the lock matters to them, they’re impervious to the law,” said Olson. “They come in here and hey move things around they change things on us. It appalls me that people think they can come here and do that and think their immune to it.”

Olson will have to wait until Wednesday when the group’s inventory personnel will check to see what was stolen.

As of now he believes only food items were taken.
