Twin sisters give birth at same time, in different time zones

0706 twins birth(NBC News) — Twin sisters gave birth on the same day, at the same time, in their respective time zones.

35-year-old Leah Rodgers gave birth to son Reid Joseph Thursday, at 1:18 in the morning Mountain Time in Denver, Colorado.

A time zone away, identical twin sister Sarah Mariuz delivered Samantha Lynne In La Jolla, California at 1:18 a.m. Pacific Time.

The twins didn’t plan their pregnancies together. They’re thrilled, but not surprised, given their tight connection.

The sisters and new moms told TODAY they’re thrilled by the coincidence, if not all that surprised.

“We’ve always lived in separate places, but all of us — we have two sisters — are very close in age and very close,” Rodgers said. “But certainly there’s another connection at the twin level.”
