Two injured in Grants Pass house fire

1003-gp-g-street-fireGrants Pass, Ore. – Police responded to a house fire on the 1000 block of Southwest G Street in Grants Pass around 11:50 Sunday night.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, voices could be heard inside the burning residence. Police breached the back door, but could not get inside due to the flames. A large tree caught also fire, putting another two homes in danger. Both of those residences were evacuated as a precaution.

Police said firefighters arrived within six minutes. They were able to enter the house and rescue the two people inside. They were taken to a local hospital, but have since been moved to a Portland area burn unit for treatment.

Officers said the residence was recently classified as unsafe to occupy due to not having running water. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
