New road sign causing controversy

11.10 UT TRAFFIC SIGNSUtah — Some Utah drivers are upset over what they think is a tasteless road sign, but the Department of Transportation hopes the eye catching sign will save lives.

Monday some drivers took to social media to complain about signs reading, “get your head out of your apps,” saying the twist on a common but crass phrase missed the mark.

The overhead safety message is a part of the DOT’s message Monday campaign.

The campaign kicked off on Memorial Day, the beginning of the 100 deadliest days of summer, and has featured eye catching sayings like “control your fate texting can wait,” “that seatbelt looks good on you,” and “turn signals, the original instant message.”
