Quake rattles southern Japan

(NTV/NBC News) A powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake has rattled southern Japan.

At least 45 injuries have been reported.

The quake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on Japan’s southwestern Kyushu Island at 9:26 p.m. Thursday, local time.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency says there is no risk of tsunami.

Aftershocks continue to shake the area.
