Republicans work to block refugees

NC_ussyria1117_700x394(NBC News) Washington is on alert in the wake of last week’s Paris attacks, the recent ISIS threat to attack the United States capitol.

Still, experts say hitting the United States might be difficult.

“We’ve got certain advantages. Geography for one; we’re more distant,” says former NSA and CIA director General Michael Hayden.

House Republicans, meanwhile, are increasing their efforts to halt the flow of Syrian refugees into the United States.

“This is a moment where it is better to be safe then to be sorry,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday.

Governors of at least 28 states agree, and are calling on President Obam to back way from his pledge to accept nearly 10,000 refugees.
